I'm from the left, not a progressive though - and I have weighed in twice. Heard's mental illness makes her an unreliable narrator and that's the problem here. The court case (particularly the cross examination) has been a car crash for her, because of her personality disorder. That requires an understanding of personality disorders that are missing from the mainstream conversation.

Where the Heard/Depp case is doing damage to victims of domestic violence isn't along the male-female line. It's around the truth/not-truth line. Society gear shifted around #MeToo to believe anything that was said by a woman if that claim was plausible. It was a stupid move to make because there are people are complicated and damaged as Amber Heard in the world. The court isn't good for her, for him, or for anyone.

I've addressed the story twice from a centre ground position. It's not about fault, it's about finding a compassionate truth in the middle. It's been very interesting to read many of the men in my comments.
