I’m going to kick back at this - because I’m a centrist and a Brit with very little love for the machinations of the Far Left. However, both would be assassins have previously been Trump voters - even if we presume they have moved left after the fact (your linked article says the second would be assassin has only done Democrat things since 2019) if neglects to mention what was happening in 2016. These are both disenfranchised Trump voters who feel let down and who have swapped sides - they aren’t far left anarchists from the get go.
Secondly, the progressive left might be many things I disagree with - but the one thing. It’s got right in my mind is the removal of military grade weaponry being readily available. To the extent that it still is, and both men have been able to purchase weapons with which to attempt an assassination is down to the political right.
Assassination is political tool which fell out of favour in the left by about 1930 - but it has been picked up by the right. The progressive left did not call to hang Mike Pence. To incite violence, as Trump may have done (or at least skirted close to) is to give tacit consent for violence as a political tool. If you do this (and he did) then you have to be clear you have control of the beast you’re releasing.
He didn’t.
Now I hope he doesn’t get shot, because I think political discourse is better than mob rule - but should he be shot, there will be a hubristic element at play here. You can call that progressive left propaganda if you wish, but the slightest reading of my back catalogue will demonstrate there is no love lost between me and state mandated identity nonsense.
