I'm largely in the Glaswegian camp here... what he said was different from what he may have implied - and we have to judge him on what he said... not what we benevolently interpret from his words.

I think a lot of the time the man makes perfect sense. I think on this instance he wasn't careful with his words. That's one of the twelve rules and he's put himself in the position of seeming like a judgmental douchebag. If he wanted to write an op-ed like this about attacks on the concept of beauty, he's erudite enough to have done so. He didn't do that though, he rocked up and made a flippant remark and I think he probably regrets doing so.

For a man who has historically been very careful with his words, it was a stunning lapse of judgment. You can defend his position with the vehemence of an attorney, but I think you're fighting a losing battle on this one. We can hold a grey area position on Peterson, he's right a lot, but sometimes he's wrong. On this one, what he may have been trying to argue could be correct - but his methodology was flawed.
