I'm not a US Penguin, but I am a left-leaning socialist style bird. I'm not particularly impressed with Harris but she's better than the Orange alternative. Whether or not the Democrats can get their shit together for 2028 will be based on whether they can win the centre ground or not. The Orange Menace has made good in-roads with the electorate because he's spotted the people the Democrats aren't reaching. The blue conversation has moved away from poverty and into identity - this has always been a short sighted approach because it alienates socially Conservative people with cost of living concerns, in favour of relatively well off folks with identity concerns. If the electoral system were done on the popular vote, this wouldn't be a problem... but it ain't, and the US should be very careful about the 'basket of deplorables' approach Clinton tried in 2016.

Politics is always won in the centre ground - and hopefully both parties will head there in 2028. Great article. Very enjoyable. Tell your daughter good job. The world needs people like her. :o)
