I'm not afraid of Allah either, nor Zeus, nor Jesus etc. It should come as no surprise that I'm an atheist, because I'm sure I've mentioned it - but if I haven't, taaa daaaa! I am. Have been since I was about seven because I find a lot of holes in most religious doctrines.... however, that doesn't mean I'm against people having their own faith and I cook food for a Christian homeless charity.

The faithful and the faithless can live in harmony if we want with a few exceptions. The Godless nihilists, who believe in nothing at all but want to burn everything down - and the God-wrath extremists who believe in their thing at the expense of everyone else. Those two groups can't be invited to the table. The table is the middle ground where the compassionate rubber meets the road of reality. In my mind, it doesn't matter how you've come to the conclusion to consider love, tolerance and compassion to be central to your life. Jesus, Allah, Zeus or good old fashioned enlightenment logic, what matters is the conversations you can have and the good things you can accomplish in those around you.

For the record, I'll come out swinging at the Catholic church occasionally, but usually only for their failings at child protection. I'm more of a fan of the current Pope than I was of the last... which I think was the point of shuffling the last one into the background. Great article - keep up the good work. :o)
