I’m not convinced someone with a mother called Gytha Thorkelsdóttir gets to count himself as all that English. He had a brothers called Tostig, Leofwine and Wulfnoth and he was very much a part of the Cnut famalam… still, better than the Norman invaders I’m guessing. :o)
