I'm not dismissive of identity discussions, we can discuss identity until the cows come home.... the problem is that it isn't a sufficient basis to enact any form of political change. It's like choosing 'everyone shouting all at once' as your strategy for group public speaking. I don't mind talking about identity or social issues - I simply think we need a better methodology.
I also think socialism is that better methodology. If money flows from wealthy to poor and you do things like... give women equal pay, or give childcare allowances to single mothers (or fathers) because that's socially fair, then some of the identity issues go away.
I think we've had a better time at addressing many of the identity issues than you guys over the pond. Largely because we haven't conflated democratic socialism with communism and run away screaming from things like Medicare.... though we are struggling a little bit now.
