I’m not entirely sure why we’re doing CVs, it seems a little odd and machismo based but as you’ve asked- I’ve worked for a decade and a half as an advocate and teacher, advocating for children in the care system and people subject in the mental health act. I’ve trained social workers, taught at university and been a consultant on how to communicate with hard to reach young people, in my other life I’ve taught drama, directed shows and written an award winning play and am now forging a career as a TV writer.

One thing I’d tell the children I work with is this. Learn to think. If you don’t learn to think then you’ll end up as a mindless sheeple and/or an activist…. Which is basically a sheeple with their pants outside their trousers and a desire to save the world: something for which they are usually under-skilled for and over confident about. If you cannot see when an argument or point doesn’t have merit then you’re doomed to be one of those people occupying the moral high ground with no real knowledge of how you got there and it’ll be an embarrassing climb down at the hands of more ambitious activists. It’s been that way since the French Revolution.

In the meantime though, you can ponder how the OP has accused a Brit of wiping out a language that was replaced with Portuguese or Spanish. Are you saying all Europeans are the same race? Cos a fair few Hispanic folk might have something to say about that…. Or does the OP just have limited historical knowledge and a simplistic veneer of what constitutes oppression? Is it us and then when ‘they’ can be whomever you want?
