I'm sure the average short man might be able to argue that he is also in the minority and indeed an oppressed population given much of the scientific evidence around height and implicit bias - but that's just me being argumentative. Self identification of oppression and minority-ness is not in and of itself a get out of jail card when it comes to discourse, at least not with me.

I agree in principle but we must be careful in practice. Whilst it's hurtful for someone to blurt out "I don't date trans folk" that cannot and should not be used as a stick with which to beat them, nor as a challenge. Instead, it should be considered the start of an honest conversation because it comes from a place of truth. Whether that truth is based on incorrect media assumptions or general ignorance can and should be explored further with curiosity - and perhaps not by the trans-person who has just been rejected or by any passing activist with an axe to grind. People don't understand why they hold the attractions they do, most people haven't thought about it - and talking it out and graded exposure to a concept might cause them to reconsider. That's true of attraction across the board, whether it is related to trans-people, short men or flat chested women. :o)
