I'm unsure who the nebulous 'they' is that you refer to. Who is it specifically that engineers this ongoing capitulation? Because if it's everyone that doesn't agree with you - then the 'they' really means 'us' and your argument isn't about how 'they' are duping 'us'. It's about 'us' agreeing to your world view.

I'm a fan of lefty politics, but I'm not a fan of shadowy cabals a la illuminati working against the common good. It's too useful a rhetorical structure and allows people to circumvent the actual thought required to unpick complicated political situations.

There's always a 'them'. That's the nature of demagoguery.
