I'm with the Garrulous Glasweigen on this one. Up until about 5 years ago I wouldve happily labelled myself a feminist and frequently did so. A few choice conversations later and I realised that the stated aims of feminism and the methodology being employed by some feminists are different. I'm a big fan of sex and gender equality but that isn't where the movement is currently heading, buoyed up by the loudest voices and not necessarily the people best placed to deliver the stated aims.
As an example, when I pointed out to a 'feminist' friend a few years ago that 'Wonder Woman' wasn't a feminist film, I was verbally eviscerated, it was the epitome of what a feminist film was. It was about strong empowered women. She would hear no argument to the contrary and would go on the social media attack if anyone dared contradict her. Now... a few years down the line, the world has caught up and said it is what I said it was, a hyper-marketable form of glam-faux feminism aimed to sell tickets to the easily riled up. Now of course, that was the view she held all along - and all the people she'd shouted at (it wasn't just me) have all quietly taken off our feminism badges. It's her world, it's her word and she's welcome to it.
