In essence, no. That’s the nature of identity politics and the continuing carousel of despair. Everyone has to simply outgun each other with their immutable characteristics and their right to be offended as a given group. Boyega is speaking from the heart, uncensored, with clarity, very real pain and a level of outrage that is fitting for someone who has just witnessed an appalling murder… but he isn’t speaking as an individual in 2020. He’s speaking as a subsection of his race, gender, sexuality, class, wealth and geographical location.

What he says can be dismantled by any other group with an immutable or mutable characteristic he doesn’t share and an agenda he doesn’t agree with. That’s the rabbit hole we have willingly allowed society to be led down. The truth is, when you try and empower everyone, you set up a circular firing squad and empower nobody. Everyone retains the right to veto everyone else. The real issues get lost in a mire of endless bullshit, the status quo remains in place, and those like George Floyd pay the ultimate price. So very sad.
