Interesting article and very well written. Women actors were very much allowed in Victorian theatre – they got onto the stage in 1660 during the Restoration and by the turn of the 20th century there was a fine history of female performers. In this era there very famous female actors like Ellen Terry and her siblings and earlier, Sarah Siddons.
