Isn’t the reverse also true. If the argument has always been that it is better to have a mixed sex group because of the inherent strengths of both…. Doesn’t that also hold true here? There were both men and women campaigning for inclusivity and representation – even in the Bush era. Yes, those Conservatives you’ve outlined probably weren’t them…. But by picking an all female team, the attack they throw is valid. The liberal position on this feels like rebalance but is in fact the ‘but he hit me first…’ argument from the schoolyard.
I’m well aware that this won’t be a popular response to your article but that shouldn’t matter. One man in the mix would’ve mitigated the divisiveness – he at least would’ve been able to take what he learned back out into the world. Progressive liberals of both sexes should commit to building the world they want to see come to fruition. If that is a female dominated world then feminism has slid to misandry and its aims shouldn’t be supported by rational people of either sex who are committed to equality.
The line between the two falls on matters such as this one where ‘victory’ can be claimed.
