It doesn't happen in my writing very often but I am an absolute history nerd. I love history and I really enjoy writing about it. Sadly I get caught up doing politics and reading your wonderful rantings to get much historical writing done. I hope your other half enjoys it when you read it to him.
The borders Auxilary units were set up a little later in 1941 in East Lothian, Berwickshire, Roxburghshire, Selkirkshire, Dumfriesshire, Kirkcubrightshire, Peeblesshire and Wigtownshire. One of the most recent bunkers was found near Moffat on the Scottish borders, so I'm sure there were a few angry Glaswegians in there.
If the Germans overran England, the plan was to move North and regroup in Scotland. I think that's the military equivalent of telling your big brother or sister that someone is bullying you. Can you imagine what sort of William Wallace shit would've gone down on Hadrians Wall if the Nazis had showed up? I wouldn't fancy their chances.
One day I'll write a story about Major Jack Churchill. The man fought with a sword, used a longbow and played the bagpipes in battle. Not many people get knocked out by grenades trying to get through "Will ye no come back again'.
