It sounds like all these books have sparked something - and that's probably good enough. After being a lifelong bibliophile and amassing a large collection, I finally convinced myself that books had souls, they desire to be read - and they should be given the chance to be read. I was keeping far too many books prisoner on my shelves, so I gave most of them away to public space libraries for other people to enjoy. I felt a lot better about them then.

Now I have an audible account with over 500 soul-free audio recordings (damn you 'Daily Deal') - and I am listening to a great many books. Now if I want a book, I buy it, read it and release it - and I collect first editions of authors I like. I still have a book collection, it's just much more cultivated, better stored and not the inescapable Guantanamo Bay of unread and unrealised pages.

Kondo is mostly right. Mostly. Let them flow in and out of your house apart from the ones that you absolutely can't. :o)
