It’s a fun theory - but I remain unconvinced it’s not a filling in the gaps theory. A retrospective one. In order for their plan to fully take fruition, the USSR would’ve needed to both create and control social media - and they didn’t. What they can do is stand next to an already crashes car with a dead drunk driver and claim to have been the ones to take him out for a drink in the first place. The democratic experiment may fall over and the Russians may watch with glee - but I’m not sure they had too much of a hand in it.
Having said that, I do think USSR and the US held each other in check for most of their shared history and without the balance provided between the conflicting systems of thought the capitalist economies have run amok and got high on the smell of their own shite. Democracy ceases to be so when it is an oligarchy and you can get there the Russian way or the American way.
Great article, very enjoyable. :o)
