It's a tough Venn diagram to handle - but I think RTD will manage it. The man is very skilled and hopefully he'll be able to reign in his political impulses - and even if he can't, he still does those messages better than Chibnall, so I guess we'll see. It's going to be fun to watch.
You can't really please all of the people all of the time, but there's a style of writing that will please most of the people most of the time - and that's usually where RTD shines. Fingers crossed it won't be ruined by the recent Disney acquisition. I can see them getting meddlesome and twitchy if it remains British for too long - we'd benefit from some of the more experienced staff writers you guys have, but we'd need to retain British oversight to keep it quintessentially Who.
I am indeed British - and Of Mice and Men is one of our GCSE (high school) set texts. Most children here are familiar with it. Probably because it is essentially a screenplay pretending its a novel, the whole thing is dialogue pretty much. It's an excellent set text (and I've taught it) other books may require a bit more Transatlantic familiarity than our average 14 year old has. :o)
