It's a very compelling argument and I reserve judgment about Trump's guilt. As you've stated, there's plenty of evidence to suggest he will be charged and perhaps found guilty of what he's charged with - but until that time I'm not going to be delighted with his indictment. I will remain solidly Penguinly neutral.
You cannot bring a wiffle ball to a knife fight as you've suggested, but liberals need to bring the baseball bat of the law rather than anything else. They need to surgically apply it in the style of Bruce Lee and the takedown needs to be swift, comprehensive and without room for questioning. It is commitment to the legal process we should strive for - because this is the 'no further questions' approach. When we start waving the bat around, covering it with glitter and tossing it from hand to hand threateningly, that's when mistakes are made. The bat is dropped, the glitter softens the impact, the bat was made in China... Stating unfounded opinions at the wrong time (hello Nancy Pelosi) is the equivalent of dropping the bat - I made that case about Maxine Waters in the article linked at the bottom. We cannot and should not drop the bat.
Whatever I may privately think about Trump and no matter what overwhelming evidence is presented to me in advance. I am not a judge and my opinion doesn't matter. My opinion needs careful attention because if half the country stands outside chanting 'lock him up' - does he get a fair trial? If he cannot get a fair trial, then what? What's the difference between 'lock him up' and 'lock her up'. Both groups are only acting on evidence presented within their informational bubbles and liberals should know better than MAGA aficionados.
We believe in legal process. We might enjoy wiffle-ball (whatever that is) but we carry the bat of legalism and we use it fairly and without malice. There is a presumption of innocence and we should hold that line - no matter what we may know, no matter how we may feel, no matter what personal convictions we have or what evidence we have privately gathered or put in the public record. We are committed to exclusively hitting people with the bat of legalism because that is what principled and democratic people do. :o)
