It's a worrying trend. I endeavour to be as active on my comments section as I am putting out articles - because I think there are plenty of people who will come and disagree. If you're putting your opinion out onto the internet then you should have the resources and emotional strength to defend it. And there's a difference between critique and trolling and the conflation between the two will lead to 'absolute worship and agreement' becoming the status quo - at which point the readership will drop away.
