It's an absolute banger of a film - and I'm not a fan of the modern tendency to retrospectively moralise, particularly when it's done badly (and it is with this film). This is a condemnation of middle-aged lust and a masterful exploration of character across the entire story. I wholeheartedly endorse your position on this one, the Penguins have got your back if the angry young revisionists comes for you in the night. :o)
