It's an interesting argument and one I thought about when Zelensky made the call. It is a discriminatory law based in sexism and based on the assumption that men are better at fighting than women - that may have been true when fighting was hand-to-hand as it was through much of human history, but isn't the case anymore. Women are just as valuable on the battlefield as men are - and indeed, many women have stayed behind to fight alongside male soldiers.
I always think it's fun to play with counter-factual concepts to see how balanced people's views are. Many faux-feminists have stayed silent on this issue - yours is the only article I've seen condemning conscription in this way. Now imagine a world where the leader of a country announces in law that every woman must stay and fight but men can stay if they want to - do you think this would pass without comment? I'm not convinced it would.
That's an interesting idea for an article which may get me into a lot of trouble. I love being in trouble. Thanks for an interesting read. :o)
