It’s complicated. I’m an economic leftist - I’m in favour of tax and spend a la Scandinavia. But the Left decided to redefine itself in terms of identity and social justice. I don’t agree with much of that methodology (although in favour of the general push), and accordingly am now described as ‘conservative’ in the eyes of the new left. This makes me (technically) a centrist.
This makes me one of a shrinking minority who can chat on both sides - because I don’t get offended by other people having different ideas about wealth and capitalism. It’s largely based on your life experiences. I don’t give much of a monkeys about people who are permoffended, but any social justice person who can take push back on their methodology rather than their direction of travel is also fine with me.
