It's going to be a slow rebalancing act - Medium just redirected a lot of funds away from their professional journalist teams and the Medium publications. I hated that experimental phase of Medium because it brought high quality gloss and no substance to much of the writing I'm glad it's over. It's amateur/indie hour once again.

But that does mean that money sloshing around has to go somewhere - and for a while that's going to be a whole bunch of new writers, writing to new readers about how to become better new writers. It's like a little lucrative Supernova.

Then it'll go boom, those not seeing instant success will get bored and wander off. Those who get some success writing about writing, will see their earnings dwindle to nothing - and we will once again be curating quality. As I've always advocated to any newbie who wants my advice, quality counts - and good quality writing will always win out in the long run, even if we have to go through numerous pointless phases to get there.

Great article - leading by example. Quality and precise writing with plenty to think about.
