It's not about both sides being equal - it's about having a comprehensive strategy for rebuttal. If, every time you are faced with a situation and you respond in a way that seemingly gifts your opponent more strength, then you are part of the problem and not part of the solution.
You can be for human dignity and justice without wearing your pants on the outside of your trousers and fighting the minor villains. Save your energy, tackle the big boss.
I long ago stopped calling myself a feminist - I prefer the term gender egalitarian. Feminism has become sullied by not being able to extricate itself from misandry. As for humanism, I'm a big fan... for a Penguin. :o)
