It’s very sad the world has moved backward on this, but I have faith that people haven’t moved backwards willingly. I’m not Christian, don’t like churches, or big organisations generally because they do groupthink - but (on the whole) individual people seem to approach this societal shift in the same way as your church friends, blundering through with a mix of curiosity, blunder and compassion. It is the polemicists from both sides who have pushed and pulled each other into positions of intolerance, groups who make no allowance for nuanced thought or the messy reasoning required to get through life. When the world is painted like a comic book, simple colours, heroes and villains, it is people like your daughter who suffer. Great article, thanks for writing. :o)
