I've argued for this for a while, the problem is that feminism also encompasses misandrists, who if they aren't actively included are certainly not given the same poke with a shitty stick that misogynists are.... despite there being zero chance a feminist movement will work if it includes anyone who actively engages in 'dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against men'. That contempt and ingrained prejudice is very evident in the way matters of feminism are discussed in most places (including Medium).

Feminism should theoretically be a centre ground movement between the moderate men and the moderate women... most of whom are able to co-exist quite happily by ignoring all the issues entirely. As a centre ground movement it should look at complex issues from every angle rather than just attempting to solve the assumed problem (the nebulous, ill-defined, can be whatever you want it to be... Patriarchy) through a female-led movement.

That's why I'm not a feminist. I think it has taken some woeful miscalculations in the last few years - errors that have made it more dangerous for women, more easily rebuffed by outright-misogynists and made it less inclusive. Here's me writing about one such occasion if you're interested. https://medium.com/p/c0ec43ff7a52

If asked, I consider myself a 'gender egalitarian'. A gender egalitarian and a Penguin. :o)
