I've spent a year warning against the problem of centralising the writing power of Medium into the hands of an elite few editors and writers and their own publications. This is why. Despite it's theoretical left-wing leaning membership, the model veers heavily to the ideological right. It's rife for abuse by editors and top writers in positions of influence - they know exactly what they're doing and to bastardise Orwell.... 'all writers are equal, but some are more equal than others'.
