Late to the Horton party.... but now finally here. Four years ago I started writing on this platform, I've never done a follow for follow and I never will. I'll occasionally write a tongue in cheek piece about income, but broadly speaking I write about whatever I want to write about, not what's popular.
I'm all behind those writers who want to do it the hard way - it's the only real way to get a long-form profile on this platform. I've seen plenty of people burn out in the meantime. Stick around, develop your voice, find your crowd rather than your monetised niche, knuckle down and don't ever do it for the money.
And yes, I did follow you - and no, not because of this article. I went and read your article on telepathy first.
A trick from an old hand... when you catch the Medium wave... write multiple articles, then schedule them within your own publication. If you write one long article, split it in half. Two stories spaced a few days apart will do better than one long one amongst a sea of silence. :o)
