Let me advocate for the devil here - because why not. We still practice slavery, we have simply added a small stipend poverty wage in places where we can ignore the suffering of women, workers and children. We've moved away from battlefield warfare into Total War by entire populations (and developed nuclear weapons), and we have indeed developed life saving vaccines, treatments and surgeries - but have introduced obesity, worldwide plagues and organ harvesting.

I think we're far more likely to destroy ourselves with nuclear weapons, we just aren't aware of it. And whilst we aren't allowing 1/3rd of the population to die in genocides, droughts or natural disasters - we have just had a heatwave here in Europe which killed a bunch of people. Even more if you consider many weather based problems to be man-made by climate change (which I do).

The devil is pleased now. I'm probably going to be allowed Lexus or something. :o)
