Let's not get too excited by this apparent progress. From what I can see these brothers attended a private boarding school in Surrey called Reeds. The same school as Tim Henman, Tom Hardy and a few other notable alumni you can find here.

They then went to Bristol business school rather than Oxford or Cambridge and set up and dissolved 'Twin Thinking Ltd' in 2013 - then they joined Yoti Ltd as a package deal (unusual) and a quick look at the first director I found threw up someone who's family were from the landed gentry. Presumably they left this company and went abroad to start Marshmallow as I can't find any records for the company very easily.

That isn't to take away from their accomplishment - I have absolutely no doubt that Marshmallow is an excellent company. However, it's not quite the rags to riches story of overcoming oppression it initially seems. Startup capital was likely done by a quick whip round of friends and family, it's unusual for siblings to get a job together in the same company without some sort of nepotism being at play.

So yes, as Michelle Scorziello says - this is a positive and uplifting article and we definitely do need more racial diversity at the top end of society. Makes a refreshing change from white stale and pale but as always with these things a more complex story emerges when you throw in the intersectionality of class and finance.
