Listen to the racial healing circle people, they are onto something. I can think of nothing worse than the phrase ‘the global majority’ - that’s basically taking about 180 unique countries and unique cultures and condensing them down to a single facet ‘they ain’t white’. In time (and probably very quickly) it’s going to become politically incorrect. The words aren’t important the mindset is. Most anti-racism continues to perpetuate a mindset of division.

If it makes you feel any better ‘white’ as a term can also be insulting. Do you mean Celtic white with ginger hair and freckles, Nordic white with blonde hair? Or olive skin coloured Mediterranean folks? Or darker blue eyed Slavic or Romany white? These catch all labels like ‘white’ and ‘black’ and ‘people of colour’ - do little more than focus the conversation on skin colour above all else. It is the least important part of what constitutes a human… it’s an indication of melanin levels. Racism and anti-racism are two sides of the same coin.

And so listen to those older facilitators. They’re onto something.
