Medium is my quick fix writing - in a sort of weird way. I write scripts and screenplays in my real life - when these get taken up they pay very well but there's a long wait. With Medium, I can have an article written and sent out in a day. 99% of my stuff is new stuff on here - I occasionally recycle (but not often). The feedback is instant, and sometimes it's minimal, but almost all of my stories get a response within a few hours.... that's something that doesn't happen in the TV or theatre world, turnaround is weeks. It's why I tend to write authentic 'my voice' stuff rather than characters and why I tend to write opinion pieces rather than fiction.
Medium is a side hustle and a very enjoyable one. The meat of my writing happens off the site. It seems to be the same with you. The trick is making it work in the pantheon of work you're doing across a writing life :o)
