Men are entitled to safe spaces too
And why is ‘The Billy Graham rule’ so infuriating for people to understand anyway?
There are many problems with the modern world. Most of them are caused by men. That’s the narrative that we’ve woken up with in the 21st Century. Broadly speaking, I have to agree.
That won’t please a lot of readers I’m sure. But hand on heart men are responsible for a lot of what is wrong with the world.
Men are also responsible for a large percentage of the negative things that happen to women. I don’t think that is really up for debate either.
Perhaps some fringe lunatics who would argue that it’s all a conspiracy. But by and large, most men understand the message loud and clear. The patriarchy has had its day and it’s due to be dismantled.
But creating a safe world cuts both ways.
You cannot have your cake and eat it. And the ‘Billy Graham Rule’, however ridiculous is a valid one. It has it’s roots in christian evangelism in the 1940s. It’s far more popular than most people think. The rule is simple, never be alone with a woman that isn’t your wife, always have a chaperone.
Ridiculous, right?
