My culture invented the World Wide Web and the English language. Nobody gave you permission to use either of those things and yet you have used both to critique some of the people I share a country with…. How does that show cultural sensitivity?

Cultural appropriation is a form of weaponised offence. It’s sole purpose is to be used as a rhetorical weapon and the difference between cultural exchange and cultural appropriation is largely semantic. There is some wiggle room to be had around cultural sensitivity when dealing with insulting others’ beliefs, but most of what passes in the discourse is power games and leveraging nonsense for the sake of it.
