My job (here in the U.K.) is similar to Hughette (and now you know why I’m such an argumentative bird.) Many of the people I work with have transferred from prison either awaiting trial or having been sentenced but have stopped taking their meds. It can create chaos when that happens - but I’ve seen first hand the difference between medicated and unmedicated individuals and how quickly they get better once you give them the right drug. It sounds like we’re doing better here in the U.K than you guys in the states but we’re a much smaller place with national laws and an NHS. We were due to upgrade our laws this year but the government dropped the bill in the last Parliament, so those of us at the sharp end of mental health are livid.
I hope your son continues to take his meds - and tell him from me that there’s at least one English bird on his side. :o)
