No, I said I think you’d think differently about political alternatives and the centre ground if you looked at the history of where progress has been made for LGBTQ+ people.. You are entitled to feel whatever you like, people put a lot of store by feelings, but more often than not they don’t matter. That’s the case here. The warning I’m giving you is that whether or not you feel dehumanised is irrelevant to the practical political reality, identity politics does exactly this all the time - it has been a gift to the right wing across the world. The left is so busy fighting itself about whose feelings are most important based on whatever characteristics they have that the average right wing demagogue can just point at them and say ‘you want these folks in charge?’ - and hoover up the moderate centre ground. You may not like Starmer, you may have to hold your nose to vote for him, but it’s very complacent and dangerous to signal to the Trans community not to vote based on your temporary feelings about a single incident and conclusions drawn as a result.
