No, my attitude is that there’s a separation between the different branches of the US system for a very good reason.

Politics and law are different disciples with different rules and they act indepdently of each other. They are a balancing act, politics has sides and the law is a theoretically neutral set of rules that must be applied fairly and equally at all times. When that doesn’t happen, as has been the case in the US before, such a thing is a travesty of justice. It is felt to be unfair and Politicians ensure the laws are changed.

But the law is the law. Nothing to do with being grateful or biting the hand that feeds you. It’s about allowing a process to happen and for that process to be fair. I have exactly ZERO doubts that justice was done. Chauvin was done - but Waters (amplified by the Conservative media machine) interfered in the process in some small way.

That doesn’t mean he’s innocent. I don’t think he’ll get it on appeal but it now can’t be ruled out. It didn’t matter what the pundits said, they were waiting for someone to fall into a trap set for an idiotic off the cuff remark by a politician - and she gave it to them.
