No. Of course not… because that’s a false equivalency. Also, be careful about misgendering me - I may not be a ‘bro’, I don’t play identity politics and haven’t for years. You, according to your own definition are now a hate filled bigot (maybe) - I won’t confirm my sex even now. Non gendered language was probably safer.

The equivalent in this debate would be someone asking ‘so where are you from?’ - now that might be racist, it might be offensive, but also it might not be - it really depends.

Context is everything.

People who misgender others may not be acting deliberately. As was the case in the original article and potentially you in this reply. People who hurl racial slurs at other people are setting out to deliberately offend and hurt others.

This is fairly obvious to people who don’t hold binary positions of good vs evil at every juncture.
