No, psychology is what enabled the Nazis to murder 6 million people. Politics is just the vehicle by which they did so. The same is true of the slave trade. Slavery existed long before the Americans did it and had nothing to do with skin colour. The holocaust had nothing to do with skin colour.
And that's what you fail to understand. The important thing about avoiding such events happening has nothing to do with privilege, skin colour or any other characteristic. It is down to whether the individuals in a society can think for themselves, or simply accept without question what they are told. There is a strong identity politics narrative going round society at the moment - that doesn't negate trauma in the slightest, as you seem to imply - but that also doesn't make it the right way for a society to function. The rise of intolerance is coming from both the alt-right and the progressives in equal measure and both sides think that anyone who dares question their wisdom must belong to the other side.
What you choose to believe is up to you, but I'll reject any form of philosophy that invites me not to think for myself - and takes away my right to question.
