Not a fan of Cuomo, but also not a fan of setting a precedent for toppling political careers by accusation and the court of public opinion. Sycophantic fawning and, it’s equal and opposite, moralistic pontificating have no place in the political discourse.. The did-he-didnt-he conjecture of the media is far too much of destabilising influence on modern politics to be allowed to set a precedent.
There’s a difference between the public interest, and what the public are interested in. Either take him to an industrial tribunal or a law court and prosecute him, or don’t. We should hear about it WHEN he gets fired for gross misconduct and not before. We’ve been here with Joe Biden and Tara Reade – as an attempt to split the democrat vote. The Scottish Government is about to implode on equally insane grounds. Democracy is fragile and that doesn’t mean reducing accountability of predatory men, it means making sensible grown up choices about how society navigates the next few years.
