Do I have an African American friend I can use as a token friend to back up my theories. Nah. I'm British. I have exactly one American friend - and bless her, sometimes even she's too much. I have a friend who lives in NYC but she's from Hong Kong. I've got friends here who are Black but that's a whole different relationship between nation states and race.
