Not necessarily. They wanted to lower the age of consent through legal means. The distinction is important. If you lower the age of consent, or you play around with the definition of child (which varies from place to place around the world anyway) then you're no longer molesting children - you're having a legitimate sexual relationship with an adult who is twelve. 'Harm' is a subjective term also, and there are plenty of places in the world where marriage (and therefore sex) begins at an age you or I would consider far too young.

That's by the by. The argument made on this page isn't really about paedophiles, it's about whether someone has thought out of the consequences of their argument rather than jumping on the bandwagon. I'ts a bait and switch.

I didn't compare trans or LGBTQ+ people to paedophiles - I went out of my way not to do that. You've inferred this. My argument is that you shouldn't blindly accept the views of a vocal minority group on the basis that they are a minority group.... you should explore each and every argument they're making separately and with care - becuase doing so is important. There are many different and separate arguments happening about trans-people, they need to be discussed rationally and in good faith. Labelling anyone who disagrees any aspect of any part of the discussion 'transphobic' and piling on via Twitter is unhelpful. The sort of people who do this, are exactly the sort of people who could become 'pro-paedophile', because it's a failure in their lazy reasoning that causes the issue.

You'll have no arguments from me about paedophiles in the Catholic church. There are plenty of them there. With regards to the rape stats. You could be correct, but you could also be making a false inference from a lack of evidence. All sorts of people might be committing acts of rape, the first question to answer is whether they're being reported and if not, why not.

You also have to account for the statistical difference between the population sizes. If 9/10 people are heterosexual, we're going to have more heterosexual rape cases. Iif only 1/10 of that group commit rape you've got a huge number of people. Compare this with the 1/10 people who are LGBTQ+. If 4/10 of those people commit rape then it's still going to be fewer people - but arguably that group has more of a problem. I don't think for a second that's the case btw, I think it's an important distinction to make when making broad generalised statements.

Thanks for your comment - though I think you rested your case a little early. :o)
