Not sarcastic per se - but perhaps tongue in cheek. It seems a little convenient that feminism can pick and choose which parts of empowerment it would like and disregard others. I don't necessarily have a problem with this but I do find it amusing. Lots of focus on being top media moguls, legal eagles and Fortune 500 company chairs - less focus on levelling out the oil riggers, military casualties and bricklayers. It only sounds sarcastic because the idea is preposterous to modern sensibilities - such sensibilities, we're often informed, are wrong.

If there's a movement towards equity in society and the sexes are both to be equal, then we should see approach behaviour emerge in women. Whether it will work or not is yet to be seen. I have my doubts because I think the more equitable a society becomes, the further its members take up more traditional gendered roles. See the Danish for more.
