Oh, I can see we're going to disagree on a lot... and that's fine. I see Dr Di Angelo as someone who has basically monetised faux-contrition. She's managed to make a fortune out of writing the sort of thing that white-liberals want to read to make themselves feel like they're making progress.... but zero progress gets made and she skips off to the bank quite happily. Not entirely convinced that a white writer with a $5million cheque in her back pocket for pointing out the obvious has done all that much to solve the problems being experienced at ground level.

What it did definitely lead to was an explosion in middle-class affluence for both white and black 'race experts'. The problems that were inherent in divided communities remain in place, the same structural changes you've highlighted remain in place - but they're now being buoyed up by an entire strata of white and black middle class academics who have no vested interest in solving racism. Why would they? It pays the bills and it pays handsomely.

We're basically on opposite sides of how to combat racism..... I have a fair bit of back and forth with Tim Wise on the same sort of subjects so I look forward to clashing in the comments sections out in the wild. Very good article too btw, consider yourself followed. :o)
