Omg. Omg. Omg. Steve actually did it! This is a wonderful article for a whole number of reasons and I appreciate I’m late to the game here – but that doesn’t matter. I’m too happy not to comment.

For the record, there’s nothing wrong with battling racism. There’s lots of things wrong in battling racism with identity politics. You shouldn’t stop writing about race because like many facets of identity it’s important to your life – but you’ll be much happier and a lot less anxious if you don’t see the world as a set of oppressive groups all vying for power – and you’ll stand more chance of enacting change that way too.

It takes a lot of psychological effort to make the cognitive leap you did in this article and I’m sure doing so made Steve’s day – it made mine. I wouldn’t worry about what to write about next, you have a compelling style and the entire universe to choose from. The money will flow.

I think Medium and publications in general are not curating the same amount of identity politics as they have done in the past – So it’s a good time to get off that ship. Great article. So happy! Yaaaay Steve!
