On this, we're in full agreement. There isn't anything that can't be twisted to fit the narratives that have been thrown out - I looked at all the evidence and concluded that the trial was fair but the laws were wrong - but you can't alter the legal process just because you feel like it. I got my usual level of argument in the comments section but it's interesting how many people wade in without really studying the case and feeling like they don't need to. They've Kangaroo courted the whole thing in their heads and don't need any evidence to the contrary. Some people seem entirely unaware of how legal processes work - it was very eye opening.

I've just finished writing a piece about Waukesha - because I've heard NOTHING about it. Nothing at all. Whether the news isn't making it out of the US into the UK, or whether it doesn't fit the narrative people have I don't know... but it's been eerily quiet. I'm not sure what the answer is when everything is treated as a polemical matter to decide prima facie. You've written an excellent piece here and I expect it will make zero dent in the already-decided-one-way-or-the-other crowd.

Here's my take on Rittenhouse if you're interested. https://medium.com/lucid-nightmare/kyle-rittenhouse-is-acquitted-once-again-america-misses-the-point-8a41ab56c969
