Oooooh, I'm jealous. I have Civ VI sitting on my desktop but its been largely ignored in favour of Crusader Kings (which is a strong strong recommend) - my only gripe with the Civ games is the lack of diplomacy you can do - give Suzerain a try, it's quite addictive. Your left-wing economics and right wing social policy might actually work. The history of the game presents one such leader (Colonel Soll) and he's insanely popular, pops up from time to time to try and thwart anything you put through the Assembly. It's good fun - it doesn't take too long to play through either, two or three evenings. :o)
