Oooooh, you're going to get a lot of blowback on this one.... because if you're arguing for the ending of discussions about race then you are likely doing so in order to assert some white supremacy (classic white amirite?). It is this line of thinking which you're trying to derail but requires both racists and anti-racists to buy into.

I agree with you. I think we need to de-centre race from the discussion and talk about culture and that is essentially how a society heals from US history, but this is made difficult by both the extreme right and their emphasis on pure-nationality and the extreme left and their obsession with diversity.

Both are arguing the other is 'different' and both are consistently engaging in a process of trying to outflank each other at every turn. Racism and anti-racism are two sides of the same coin as far as I'm concerned.

Likewise I've always wondered why modern day Jewish folk like to consider themselves a race... that was a category the Nazis invented. I think they'd be better off talking about themselves as a historical culture.
