People who do well here are the people who adapt. When I arrived, it was already dominated by people like Tom Kuegler and the productivity gurus. They dropped off as the Social Justice crew moved in - and those that didn't adapt didn't stick around. Now the social justice gravy train has ended with the abolition of the Medium Publiction era, the next raft of writers are coming through. This is a place of change and a place where it pays to adapt.

Medium can indeed smell blood in the water. Now it has begun hosting competitons, I may remove myself from Vocal entirely. It's not a great platform and I haven't enjoyed their software or adapted to their lack of interactivity. If people do what I'm doing, Vocal will be dead within a few years.
